There are a wide range of factors that you should consider before choosing your pair, as ski trousers can be made from many different fabrics that will affect the appearance and feel, and even the waterproofness of the pants. You should also consider what type of skiing you will be doing and your budget, you should think about how often you plan on skiing in the future. Dare 2b offers a range of different styles, waterproof ratings and prices, to help you choose the perfect ski pants.

Uninsulated Ski Pants

These are the most versatile type of ski pants/snow trousers, uninsulated shell pants have a lining for added warmth and comfort. If you are one to get cold easily you should layer thermal leggings under your shell pants to give you the most warmth possible.

Insulated ski pants

Our insulated ski pants feature a waterproof 'shell' outer layer, with an insulated inner layer. The level on insulation differs in the ski pants, for the most warmth you should take a look at high-waisted ski salopettes or bib pants.

Softshell Ski Pants

Softshell ski pants are different to hard shell ski pants, as they are made from a soft woven fabric. They provide you with greater freedom and they are extremely breathable. These trousers will be better for dry conditions and fast movements on the slopes.

Waterproof Ski Trousers

The ski pants mentioned above offer minimal waterproofness/repellency. You can measure waterproofness by doing a hydrostatic head test, this is where test fabric is pulled tight under a sealed tube of water, which is then absorbed over a period of time in order to see how many millimetres of water the fabric can stand before it seeps through. Our ARED waterproof technology is available from 5000 to 20,000.

Ski Pant Key Features

It is important to consider the follow features whilst choosing your ski trousers and salopettes:

  • Fit

If you enjoy the retro racing glamour of a slim fit ski pant, take a look at our 4-way stretch or softshell ski pant to allow for total freedom of movement. For women, we also offer a wide selection of ski pants, including a skinny fit that will showcase the feminine silhouette and it looks great with our luxe range of jackets and mid layers. For an even more bespoke fit, some of our snow pants in our men’s and women’s collections are available with different leg lengths to suit all skiers. Our kids collection includes a grow cuff to allow you to extend the length of your trousers as your littles skiers grow.

  • Stretch Fabric

Stretch fabric ski pants maximise mobility and freedom of movement. Our most premium stretch technology is called AEP Kinematics which has been designed to provide you with maximum freedom of movement, which has been done by studying the bodies points of motion.

  • Snow Gaiter

A snow gaiter is a waterproof seal that are featured in most ski pants, designed to fit around your ski boots to keep snow and water from entering. Some of our gaiters have hooks that connect to your ski boots' buckles for extra protection, and they're adjustable in order to give you the best fit

  • Cuff Reinforcement

Unlike snowboard pants, ski pants tend to be reinforced where the inner edge of the ski is likely to wear the fabric of the pants down. An extra-durable fabric is used to reinforce the cuffs and protect the pants against contact with your ski edges and crampons.

  • Fully Taped

Fully-taped ski pants have every seam taped, on the inside of the seam, to provide you with the ultimate waterproof protection.
