Social Impact

We sent out a wellbeing survey in 2021 to 3 of our factories in Bangladesh to assess their views on income, safety and respect within the workplace. The survey was made up of 14 questions devised by Sedex to better understand where improvements are needed. The survey was sent out digitally so that participants could give truthful, honest responses and were able to raise any grievances without being monitored. In total, 392 workers were surveyed, 70% women and 30% men.
We scored highly in all areas of the questionnaire, and we’re now creating action plans and developing areas such as training on grievance procedures and H&S procedures, as well as the introduction of exit interviews. We will be continuing to monitor the effects of these action plans.

We have run the RHEP Programme since 2017 in our factories in Bangladesh. The programme educates and empowers our female workers in health and nutrition, Health and Safety in the workplace, gender equality, discrimination, violence and harassment. Over the time, we have reached over 15,500 workers who then pass on their knowledge to their own communities.

Closer to home, we have worked with our local primary schools across the Manchester area to help the most vulnerable children. Each Christmas, we pack over 400 bags with food, including cupboard essentials to help make substantial breakfasts and meals and treats, including Christmas crackers, selection boxes, festive snacks, colouring books and pens which have been donated by staff or bought by the company and these are delivered to the primary schools before the festive break.
