Our Initiatives

Ethical Trading Initiative
The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) provides a recognised base code of labour practice to drive responsible business procedures and protect colleagues. As active members since 2012 we continue to work with our supply base to improve the working conditions and wellbeing of the workers, ensuring that the facilities follow best practices in the working environment. All of our suppliers are required to comply with the base code and participate in regular audit assessments. This ensures workers have safe working conditions and their human rights are always protected. View the ETI Base Code: ethicaltrade.org/eti-base-code

Traceability
By mapping out our material and component supply chains, we have full visibility and control of where our products come from. This means we understand exactly who assembles our products and where fabrics and components originate. This helps us fulfil our commitments to workers and the places in which they live.

Score Card
We’ve used a scorecard-based system to evaluate our supplier base for over a decade. This is a top-level tool used to assess the progress in specific areas of the process including deliveries, quality, and ESG activities. Following on from, we have now created and implemented a supplier sustainability scorecard across the business, for all non-product suppliers. The scorecard will allow us to monitor key non-product supplier’s sustainability initiatives and better understand their capabilities. As well as identify continuous improvement and collaboration opportunities for us. Our sustainability questionnaire is structured around 3 guiding principles: Transparency, Collaboration, and Leadership and innovation, in line with our group’s core values.

Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking
We take the care of our staff seriously and have a zero-tolerance approach to Modern Slavery within our operations and supply chain. We are vigilant about fair working conditions and ensure our company ethics align with suppliers. Our approach is clear, “we care and treat people in our business and supply chain fairly, with honesty, courtesy and respect, as we ourselves would expect to be treated”. We operate a culture where staff are encouraged to voice any concerns using the appropriate reporting channels. Everyone must play their part and be alert to the warning signs of slavery. This year our work on modern slavery continues to extend further into our wider supply chain. We want to act as leaders in our field, making changes, having conversations, allowing voices to be heard, understanding risks, and preventing exploitation throughout by following a robust due diligence.
Our ETI membership helps us to navigate deeper into the human rights issues and also keeps in check our progress through a bi-annual reporting system which we will be submitting next year. Our Employees
We are committed to treating people fairly and with dignity and respect. We have a diverse culture and pledge to act against employee discrimination. Our own wellbeing initiative Be Well aims to help colleagues make positive changes and work towards being a more inclusive workplace. The Regatta Health Education Programme
We have run the RHEP Programme since 2017 in our factories in Bangladesh. The programme educates and empowers our female workers in health and nutrition, Health and Safety in the workplace, gender equality, discrimination, violence and harassment. Over time, we have reached over 15,500 workers who then pass on their knowledge to their own communities.

Savar Primary School
The Savar Primary School in Dhaka, Bangladesh has been funded by Regatta Group for over 14 years. It offers life-changing education for children in a safe and exciting place to learn and grow. There are currently 262 students between the age of 4-14, including 58 children with learning or physical disabilities. We want to provide extra tutoring support to the primary graduates who didn’t have a proper learning environment or support at home.

In the UK
Closer to home, we have worked with our local primary schools across the Manchester area to help the most vulnerable children. Each Christmas, we pack over 400 bags with food, including cupboard essentials to help make substantial breakfasts and meals and treats, including Christmas crackers, selection boxes, festive snacks, colouring books and pens which have been donated by staff or bought by the company and these are delivered to the primary schools before the festive break.

Alzheimer's Society
As part of the Group, we are lead sponsors of Alzheimer’s Society flagship trekking event – Trek26. As the UK’s leading dementia charity, Alzheimer’s Society works tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, to find a cure for dementia. They provide expert information, training and support services, working towards creating a dementia-friendly society. Trek26, which takes place in different venues across the UK and attracts thousands of people, helps to continue funding research, finding treatments and improving care for people affected by dementia.

The Higg Index
We are proud members of the Higg Index to measure, monitor and improve our sustainability practices. Our involvement with the Higg Index allows us to implement improvements where required and progress our environmental sustainability efforts throughout our supply chain. We have been able to compare the use of fibres, dye stuffs, and finishes to help our decisions on how to proceed with our sustainable journey.

UNFCC
We are signatories of The Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. The UNFCC has the vision to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. It was launched at COP24 in Poland in December 2018 and renewed at COP26 in Glasgow, UK, in November 2021. A focus of the UNFCCC this year is to ensure all its Signatories have clear transition plans, publicly committing to its mission to drive the fashion industry to 50% emission reduction by 2030 and net-zero Greenhouse Gas emissions no later than 2050. In 2022, we saw our first manufacturing partner join the UNFCCC. As a requirement of the UNFCCC, we have been conducting CDP reports since 2021. Our first achieved a grade B, with an A- in Supplier Engagement. On 26th July we submitted our CDP report for 2022.

Sustainable Apparel Coalition
As members of the SAC, we work collaboratively with many other like-minded companies. As part of this, the Higg Index has been an integral tool to enable us to benchmark our current performance against the best sustainability initiatives around, helping us set targets for our continuous improvement. We have been verified as Foundation Plus members and are currently working towards Progressive member status.

Policy Hub
The Policy Hub is an organisation that unites the textiles industry to develop ambitious policies that accelerate sustainable practices. They represent over 700 clothing & footwear stakeholders, including brands, retailers, and manufacturers. They gather technical expertise and knowledge from members of partner organisations and initiate meetings and discussions between policy makers and the membership to get a better understanding of localised legislation. We are proud members of the policy hub.

Textile Exchange
We are signatories to Textile Exchange’s, 2025 Recycled Polyester Challenge -through which we are committed to increasing the amount of recycled Polyester in our brand’s products and ranges. The 2025 Recycled Polyester Challenge was developed by Textile Exchange in 2021 as a joint initiative with the UNFCCC, which serves as an important catalyst for change in the apparel and textile industry.

Microfibre Shedding
Microfibre shedding is a harmful and dangerous pollutant to water systems and oceans. Dare 2b is committed to testing our fabric fragmentation and our membership of the Microfibre Consortium enables us to begin our journey in minimising microplastic pollution. We work with the research programme and other like-minded companies, to find better fibres, yarns and fabrics to use in our collections that are kinder to the environment.

Pollution and Harmful Chemicals
To ensure the safety of chemicals used in our products we have strict standards our suppliers must follow. Our Restricted Substances List sets out potentially harmful chemicals which must not be used. All product components are traceable and have been tested in line with this list. Our full list of restricted substances can be seen [here](https://cdn.regatta.com/attachments/restricted-substances.pdf). Our Restricted Substances list is aligned with EOG and Reach, which is the best practice for our industry.

Newlife
We work closely with Newlife charity who take old products and save them from landfill, by either repurposing, mending or reselling them. This raises funds to change the lives of disabled or terminally ill children by providing support, information, disability equipment, emergency loans and specialist toys. We offer a ‘take back’ scheme in our retail stores and all warehouse returns are sent to the charity. For the period of 2022-23, Newlife saved 8,304 tonnes of carbon, the equivalent of the carbon emissions from over 23.9 million road miles travelled by car. The Group’s donations to the charity represents 2.46% of all in bound stock, making our estimated net carbon saving of 180.6 tonnes. Equivalent of over 1 million road miles travelled by a small petrol car.

Concsious Packaging
From AW2023 our polybags are made from 100% recycled plastic, are fully recyclable and the size is seasonally reviewed to ensure minimal plastic use.  For some products, we have managed to reduce the size by over 25%. The priority for our warehouse at Pioneer Point is to reduce plastic by 20% by 2024 and 50% + in the next 2-3 years. This will be achieved by reducing our mail order bag size for 70-80% of the orders we send out for digital, as well as increasing the recycled content to 98% of all of our packaging is made with FSC-approved sources and we have removed laminates and foiling to ensure they are fully recyclable. Any unnecessary additional papers have also been removed from boxes including footwear packaging. Swing tickets are made using recycled materials and are sourced locally to the factory.

Energy and GHG Emissions
As of April 1st 2021 our Manchester head office has 892 solar panels fitted and has so far saved over 2 tonnes of carbon. Since then, the use of renewable energy has increased in direct operations for the Group with not only our Head Office having solar panels installed, but our Distribution Centre in the UK also having the technology fitted to 1,111 Solar Panels in July 2022. We also complete the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) to analyse our energy usage and implement new efficiencies to reduce our carbon footprint. In 2021, we completed the UK Government’s compliance scheme, the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR). This is designed to make companies aware of their energy usage and carbon footprint. Currently, we are reviewing our energy suppliers and renegotiating contracts, to switch where possible to those offering renewable energy. Our Distribution Centre (Pioneer Point) currently draws 44% of its energy from renewable sources.

No down
From Winter 2021 we stopped using all fur and down in any of our products. Our synthetic insulation is made using recycled materials meaning it’s much kinder to the environment and even performs better than down with an improved warmth-to-weight ratio.

Cotton
Since our last report we have reviewed our sourcing strategy and where cotton content in a product is over 50% we are moving to Organic or Recycled cotton sources, to enable us to have greater visibility of our supply chain with certified, GRS, OCS or GOTS cotton. This allows us to trace the source of the cotton back through the production to the farms where the cotton is grown. We still use Better Cotton, a global non-profit organisation, in our products because we know that as members of Better Cotton, we ensure that our cotton meets the highest standards for sustainability and workers’ rights.

Eco Friendly Tech
VECT COOL Jade infused fabric gives a long-lasting cooling effect by pulling heat and moisture away from the body. The fabric is also infused with zinc, a natural anti-bacterial, perfect for activewear pieces.

Recycled Fibre Content
With over 50% of our range now made from recycled materials, we have saved over 7.5 million plastic bottles from landfill. Recycled fibres give materials a new lease of life and save energy. All of our recycled materials are certified and meet the global recycled standard (GRS). Our woven labels, badges and studs are made from recycled materials.
