Spring is the ideal time to start exploring on your bike. The mornings and evenings are brighter, the temperatures are higher without being too hot to exercise and everyone is starting to be outside more. But of course, the weather can be unpredictable, so how do you dress for a bike ride when it can be sunny one minute, then start raining the next?

What should you wear for a bike ride in Spring?

Layering is key when it comes to Spring cycling outfits. You want to be able to feel protected incase the weather does turn whilst you're out.

Your 'base layer' should be a cycling jersey. If the temperature looks like it's going to be really low, you do also have the option to wear a thermal base layer. However, if you find yourself getting overly hot on your ride, it can be a struggle to remove, so this is definitely something to keep in mind with a thermal. Most cycling jerseys come with either a full zip or quarter zip which allows for extra ventilation. You also have the option of a long sleeved or short sleeved cycling jerseys.

When it comes to your outer layer, you want something lightweight and easy to take on or off whilst riding. Cycling jackets are made with the focus of being lightweight, breathable, waterproof and reflective. Having reflective sections or panels on a cycling jacket is especially important for those early morning or late night rides, to make sure that you're visible to everyone around you.

Another benefit of having a lightweight jacket is they're easy to take off and store in your backpack or to tie around your waist.
