James Machon #IAmMoreThanOne

Dare 2b are proud to sponsor Freestyle Halfpipe skier James Machon. He tells us how he got to where he is today:

"I have been a professional athlete in the sport of Freestyle Ski Halfpipe for 10 years now. I'm incredibly proud to be the holder of 5 British Gold Medals, and to have represented Great Britain in the first ever Freestyle Ski Halfpipe event at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. I was delighted to be presented with the opportunity to donate an item of Memorabilia to the IOC Olympic Museum; my competition skis are now showcased there in Lusanne, Switzerland for all to see! Hopefully I will inspire future skiers.

Since then, I went on to placing 8th in the World Championships and I graduated with a Sports Performance Degree from Leeds Beckett University where I studied Sports Sponsorship, Nutrition, Strength & Conditioning and Psychology. In my final year, I researched the presentation of ACL injuries in skiers and gained work experience at the Leicester Tigers Rugby Sport Medicine clinic.

Through my athletic career, I have worked with a network of elite sport professionals. I have also delivered presentations, negotiated contracts with sponsorship, and marketed company products through social media advertising, including GoPro, TomTom navigation, Wosskow Brown Solicitors, Lloyds TSB and Dare 2b to name a few. It's really rewarding to be recognised in this way, but the real reward is out there on the halfpipe. You can't beat the adrenaline rush and the feeling that you can achieve anything right in that moment. Even though it's just me out there when I'm competing, you can really feel the support of fans and fellow skiers. Sport really does bring people together."
