2017 saw the fifth annual Red Bull Steeplechase - a gruelling 23.5 mile run through the incredible scenery of Exmoor National Park, up steep hills, through woods, along rocky terrain and of course beautiful coastline. When they say only the toughest will reach the finish line, this time they really mean it; there are three knockout points along the way so if you're not among the first to reach those steeples, you're out! The numbers reduce down until for the final leg there are just 20 competitors from each category remaining from an initial 400. So it's down to each runner to decide whether they want to race for a place, or run at their own pace.
Runners who were eliminated were transported back to start/finish line in Lynmouth for festival-style celebrations and to cheer on the finalists that made it all the way. An amazing atmosphere all round and an epic endurance challenge for road runners and accomplished mountain runners alike.
Dare 2b were proud to be the official clothing sponsor for this incredible event, and our ambassador, bearded adventurer Sean Conway tackled the race itself in the latest of his long line of endurance based adventures!
Here he is looking epic before it all kicked off...
And during... still managing to smile!
